Stop trash being kept on external?

Hi

Is there a way to stop trash deleted from an external drive being stored on that drive, so basically keep all trash together on the main drive when deleted?

No it's like that for a reason!

If you deleted 2gb of files you'd soon complain if osx moved the deleted files to your main drive as it would be time consuming. Best practice is delete and empty trash after.

That's a shame, I have a problem where the drive keeps locking up and the only thing accessing it is Finder looking at the trash folder. I hoped this would be a simple solution.
