Tethering compromise signal?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this... If I tether my iPad Mini (wifi only) to my iPhone 5, will my iPhone5 slow down? What if I tried to use both at once (I'm surfing on the iPad, my friend is looking up something on the iPhone)?

Just wondering what people have noticed with their own AT&T tethering.

I might just exchange the iPad Mini wifi only for one with cellular when it comes out later this month. What would you do?

It will depend on your connection speed and what you are doing while tethering ... it's like using two computers on one internet line. If they are both streaming video, you'll probably notice, unless the connection is fast enough for both.
