If I buy from Amazon with SquareTrade, do I still get 1-year Apple warranty?

Can I still take it back to the Apple store if the hardware fails within first year and get a replacement?

Should I really get SquareTrade or is AppleCare better? The drop/spill protection is what appeals to me about ST because worse case scenario, I don't want Apple saying a repair isn't covered because of water damage or something similar.

Yes - you still have AppleCare for 1 year.
