How to check if the SMS is being delievered??

How do I check the delivery status of an SMS ??

Just can't figure it out.

iMessages say delivered below. Texts just send you have to trust in the force.

I know iMessage does that out of the box.
But how do I active it for regular SMS?

I couldn't find it in settings at all.
Maybe I missed something.

My 8-year phone had this feature out of the box.
Why is it disabled by default in iPhone 5?

It's not and never has been a feature in iOS

It's not a built-in feature of the iPhone. I have read that you can manually request an SMS delivery report by putting *0# at the beginning of each message you send, but that's not really a practical solution. Sorry there isn't better news.

I didn't check it out since it's such a basic stuff, I assumed it will be there!!

Isn't iPhone 5 supposed to be the best smart'phone' ever!!
It doesn't even have the basic functionality of a Phone.

This was quite important to me.

Offtopic, I'm still within 14 days.
If I swap it for GS3 , will GS3 have this 'feature'?

SMS delivery notifications are highly dependent on your carrier. In most cases the confirmation just means that the network has processed the message, not that it has been delivered to the recipient's phone. Also, it usually only works if the recipient happens to use the same carrier as the sender. IMO this feature is too unreliable to be useful.

In any case, if you really think you need it, you can put *0# or *N# (depending on the carrier) at the start of your message.

In the 5 years of iPhone's life, this is the first I've heard of this particular "missing feature." In fact, I can't think of any cell phone I've used that has SMS delivery receipts.

SMS delivery notification isn't a popular feature in the US. AFAIK T-Mobile was the only carrier that supported the feature (I don't think they do anymore).

It is more popular overseas.

Verizon has supported the feature for quite a while on pretty much all of their feature (basic) phones. The iPhone definitely doesn't have it, not sure if the other smartphones do.

Atleast in my country India its very popular.

And to someone saying that it needs both person to be on the same network, it's not the case.
Also it only shows delivery status when the other person actually receives it.
It's very reliable.

That depends entirely on your carrier. For example, AT&T in the US does not support delivery confirmations at all (see here).

I get that. many American carriers don't support the feature.
But that's no excuse for iPhone to not have it.

Every carrier in my country supports it.
And even low end phones also support it.

The fact the the Most powerful phone which costed me will abouve 1000USD (after conversion) doesn't support this feature is just very sad.

You are correct. Here in Europe we use that feature a LOT. Personally, I don't.

You can't just simply return phones in India. Neither Airtel nor Aircel (the carriers selling the iPhones in India) will allow you to return the phone within 14 days.

Source: Spent 20 years in India.

Stop trolling and go play with your plastic phone.
