There is a way but it's not convenient, you have to take a photo while your recording a video for it to be full screen. The iPhone 5 display is 16:9 while the camera is 4:3.
A photo, or your photo lens, take 4:3 photos. Some other phones or cameras that "take" 16:9 photos just crop/trim the two long sides of the photo to make it narrower. You don't have more by 16:9 photo. You have less.
