Here's what I did a few months back:

1. Buy GSM unlocked iPhone 5
2. Buy micro SIM card
3. Cut micro SIM down to nano SIM
4. Put in iPhone 5 and connect to $30 Web plan

works great!

Hi. I'm having trouble getting my T-mobile sim on the $30 prepaid 5Gb fast data/100mins to work in my ipad 2. It is activated--it works fine in my phone. I put it in the ipad 2 and it will only access the tmobile website. I've set the apn to epc.tmobile.com

What am I doing wrong?

I wonder if on $30 plan T-Mobile allows access to all same towers as high pay customers. I have a lots of "network error" on my Nexus 4.

It has access to the same towers, it just doesn't get to roam and whenever the towers are congested the postpaid users get priority preference over prepaid and MVNOs.
