PROMISE Pegasus R4 4TB RAID System

Looking for some advice about my Pegasus R4 RAID storage.

Apple now offers a gigabit ethernet to Thunderbolt adapter for $29.

I was wondering if I could buy the adapter, then connect my R4 to my network using the ethernet adapter. Then "make" the R4 as my NAS for my music and video streaming making full use of the bandwidth from both the R4 as well as the Gigabit network?

Can this be done or will I have issues trying to do it?
