A1278 keyboard replacement - some keys still not working

Hello,

I've just been through the laborious process of replacing my MacBook Pro's keyboard with a new (unused) replacement keyboard. I had a tea incident a while ago and my old keyboard lost the use of its number, and some of its function and letter keys. I finally got around to doing something about that, but it seems that while I've got the use of the number and function keys back, I don't have use of most of the letter keys (q-o and a-l).

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do now and what the problem could be - why a completely different set of keys is now not working. Before I go complaining that the replacement keyboard is faulty (it shouldn't really be being new and all) ..I want to make sure I've done and checked everything else. I'm not sure I want to go through that process all over again with another one. Especially if it turns out to be something else. I reset the ribbon and also restored the keyboard settings in system. So, yeah - any ideas would be much appreciated.

It could be that the keyboard is faulty - it could be that the tea has damaged the connector on the MLB, or (this sounds more likely) it's actually the wrong keyboard. Whilst keyboards from different models look identical, the internal wiring and the pinouts on the connectors vary slightly between models .
