Any way to buy an iPhone 5 in the store and activate it at home?
I called my local Apple store and they said the phone would be activated the instant I purchased it. Is there any way to get around this other than buying it online?

Depends if you are paying full price, or subsidized price.

I bought full price verizon version at the apple store. i was told by the apple employee that I can just activate it when i get home,, thats why i didnt want to open it at the apple store. and they told me it came with a nano sim card already. well guess what, it didnt come with any nano sim card or sim card tray opener. i ordered a free nano sim card online with verizon, still waiting on it to arrive. suppose to be in 2 business days, which shoudl arrive today, but no confirmation if they received my order or shipped it yet.

Why would you want a Verizon SIM card? You won't be using it anyway?
