Should I Upgrade to Mountain Lion?

My wife has a MacBook Pro with a 2.26 GHz Core2Duo. I upgraded it with an SSD and 8 GB of RAM. Performance is nice. It runs Snow Leopard and she is happy with it.

Will performance decrease if I upgrade this computer to Mountain Lion? Should I upgrade to ML?

Does she want any of the features of Lion/ML? If yes - make a backup in case she wants to go back to SL.

No, she hasn't asked me to upgrade it. She's happy with it. She almost noticed that the SSD is faster.

You can upgrade - it will not feel anymore snappier.

No. Only upgrade for functionality you can't get with your current version.

I held out on SL for a long time, but I love ML now. It has a lot of "intangibles" that SL doesn't have, I love notification center, and there's nothing I could do on SL that I can't do on ML, now that TotalSpaces exists. For such a low price, I think its a no brainer. While I use my mbpr now, I upgraded my 2007 C2D to ML and its runs just as well, if not smoother, than it did on SL, and runs great as my media server.
