Need advice on this potential purchase.
July 2012 i5 processor
1.7 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 64 GB Flash drive (SSD), 11.6 screen. It comes with 3 years Apple care, so it's good to June 2015. The owner is asking for $950 firm. The breakdown was $1029 + $249 (for apple care) + taxes, $1444 total. So the owner is asking $950 firm for the whole thing. Is this reasonable or not? I don't do video editing, but would do some photo editing, along with surfing and that's about it. Don't listen to music on any devices other than in my car. |

Where did he buy AppleCare? If it was from eBay be sure you have a box. $950 seems like a fairly okay deal. Actually it retails for $999 so I would say no more than $900?

If everything's on the up and up that's a fair deal.

Or save $100 and get the one listed on Apple.com for $849, refurbed, full warranty. That's a hugely small SSD if you will do any image work at all with it. My stored images alone are 360 GB.

Don't know if you're in the vicinity of a Fry's Electronics store, but they're selling this model in today's weekly ad. (Doesn't show up as an item on their web site, but is shown in the bottom right hand corner of Page 4 of their online weekly ad.) I've had luck in the past with an Apple retail store matching a Fry's ad price...

The one on Apple's site does not have the 3 year Applecare. That will be $250 making it $150 more expensive.
