So I'm thinking of buying a new 27inch iMac.

My question is should I get the i7 upgrade or go for the GTX 680MX with 2GB of ram.

I'm a moderate gamer, I use Photoshop, Final Cut and Aperture quite a bit.

Feedback would be appreciated.

Actually probably graphics for gaming and the i7 for most else unless you are driving extra monitors.

The programs you listed will take advantage of the extra threads you gain from going to the i7. Rending times, processing will be faster.

The main benefit of the 680mx is gaming and not much else.

You need to decide what you care about the most, also I am assuming you are getting SSD in this computer.

I'm going for the i7 without the graphics upgrade, 1gb dedicated graphics is more than enough for me.

Motion and Aperture are highly reliant on the GPU.

For your uses I would go GPU, if you did pretty much only Final Cut X I would say i7 for rendering.
