I have a 15" rMBP that I use with a Dell U2412M when I'm at my desk.

If I have the Dell set up as my main display and play D3 with the rMBP open (not closed in clamshell) is any video performance lost as opposed to playing D3 on the Dell with the rMBP in clamshell?

Nope. I'm doing the same thing. Just set the game to Fullscreen and D3 will disable the rMBP's internal display.

Sweet, thanks for the reply!

The reason I ask is because with my old plastic non-unibody MacBook and with my even older iBook G4 leaving them open while running something fullscreen on an external display taxed the video card more than if I were to do the same thing with the laptops closed.
