Tried this on a mobile computer lab that consists of about 20 13" macbook pros ranging from 2010 to 2012. They ALL do this.

It's a feature - it's to stop your thumb tracking the cursor when you rest it there.

One of those clever little touches.

tried on a 2012 pro, 2012 air, magic trackpad. none do it

There's just a tiny little area that doesn't track it

I call witchcraft on this one. Apple is just trolling us.

Nah, I'm going with the alternative theory instead - sausage fingers.

me too. tried it with the magic trackpad, seeing as theres nothing but air at the edge of the surface its easy to get right on the end
