Old main HD not/brifely showing in finder
First: Sorry for any grammatical errors (I know "the internet" hates them), I'm from Norway, so English is not my first language.
I've got a Asus Eee main drive. It's in the original "cradle" from Asus, with an USBx2 -> SATA cable.
It have shown up, bu briefly. When it shows up it's labeled as untitled 1 and untitled 2, and appears to be empty.
I've tried using "Stellar Phoenix" but it couldn't locate the disc before it disappeared.
In disc-utility I could see the disc, but don't change anything about it.
I have some personal files, and ALOT of schoolwork on the Asus, so I really don't want to format it.
The longest the HD was visible was for 3-4min.
Any suggestions on what to do?
Chris from Norway

The problem *might* be the USBx2 -> SATA cable you are using (are they staying firmly connected? perhaps the USB is not giving the drive enough power to maintain spin, even with the two-port connection). It would be worth finding somebody with another cable, a hot-swap dock, or an external drive case that you could use instead.

But minor update now, restarted the Macbook, connected it again, installed the latest update.
It's now showing up in disc-utility, but not in finder (yes I've set finder to show all external connections).
Disc-utility says there are 4 partions (I think thats what they are called). And that 2 out of those are NTFS, and that they are read/write.
will post a couple of images down below, just give me 2 seconds
Btw: Thanks for the superfast response!!

There is a fairly long thread here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0 talking about even a y-cable not providing enough electricity for the drives to spin up and be read. It will show up in DU as you see, but not be mountable nor readable in finder. Looks like you'll have to grab a powered, external case to grab the data.

Looks like ebay will be my solution again..
On a side note: Have you tried MacSpy or any similar products before? I'm leaving my MBP for servicing for about 4 hours tomorrow, and I want to be sure that they're not snooping around (I know, I'm a little paranoid... )
