Nope. iOS 6.1.4 is the last software update supported by the iPod touch 4G. It's highly, highly unlikely they'll release another update for non-iOS 7 devices with new features. Apple has never done it before so I don't see why they'd do it now.

Apple will release no further iOS updates for the iPod Touch 4.

Apple has never done it before so I don't see why they'd do it now.

Apple did it one time with the iPod Touch 1G and iOS 1.1.5. It was released just after iOS 2.0 was released.

I feel bad that iPod Touch 4G users are going to be left in the dark with iOS 7. I mean a LOT of people I know that have iPods use the iPod Touch and its the 4G. And its not like they were ALL discontinued last year...they were discontinued in May. Like they couldnt give the iPod Touch 4G users iOS 7 and then cut them off in 7.1 or whatever.

That was probably because the iPod touch 1G can run 2.0... The iPod touch 4th gen doesn't even get 6.1.4, its 6.1.3 and that is the final version of 6.1.x for Not only the iPod touch 4th gen, but also the iPhone 3GS

It gave it security updates and some low level 2.0 compatibility APIs. So, yes it did get some features.

That was back when iOS updates costed money. That version was only released for the people who were too cheap to buy 2.0.

Only the iPhone 5 got iOS 6.1.4 because it was a bugfix release that only the iPhone 5 had the bug with. Even the 4S and iPad 4 didn't get that version of iOS.

But it was still released. Just the mere fact that it was shows that Apple has done it in the past and has the ability, but they very likely will not ever do it again.

thanks for all the replies! im highly disapointed apple probably wont release a ios bugfix for non ios devices. am i right in thinking ipod touch 4g will get 1 less update than other ios devices. even if they just added battey percentage or did a bugfix!
