iTunes 11 won't save changes

Hey there, just upgraded to iTunes 11 and it's royally messed up my library

I have some random albums that are self made, or downloaded from sites (yes i know!) itunes has split these up into individual albums.

So where i had an album of say top 100 hip hop songs, now i have 100 individual songs. If i click get into and edit it, itunes wont save ANY changes.

I have tried changing the album artist to Various Artists, i have tried setting it to part of a compilation too, just to get them all under one album again. But itunes simply wont save any changes i make.

Any ideas?

Figured out the reason myself. My music library is on an external hard drive attached to my time capsule. Once i woke it up it saved changes ok.

Only problem now is if i make more than say 5 changes at once, iTunes crashes, and then so does finder. Sigh...
