Mid 2011 iMac Hard Drive Question
I'm looking to add an SSD to my mid 2011 iMac and boot off the SSD rather than the current drive. I've looked around and see that fans spin out of control if you replace the OEM boot drive with anything else. The solution seems to be running your own fan control programs.
I was wondering two things. First, is this the only option? And second, for those who have done this, did you have any problem with fan control programs not being reliable, not working correctly, or anything else I should know about. Thanks |

I changed the HDD in my 2011 iMac - I bought HDD Fan Control and it does exactly what is promises (it wasn't cheap - £20; but the iMac runs perfectly and near silently)
http://www.hddfancontrol.com for a trial version if you need one

Great, that is actually the app I see recommended the most often.
