So that's what that useless waste of screen real estate is used for!

Anyone else feel like an a-hole when they use their iPhone instead of a paper coupon?

It's bit useless in the UK. Apart from hotels/booking/starbucks and the airlines, there aren't many shops using it yet, which is a pity. My wallets always, no matter how expensive, always end up lasting less time than they should because of the amount of clubcards I carry with me. Most of them are from fairly popular franchises in the UK. I don't know why they don't take more advantage of this technology.
But then again, not even the Eurostar app has been updated to work with Passbook, so... I think Apple needs to push this to retailers and convice them "how it the most amazing thing ever". And c'mon! It may not be the most amazing thing ever, but it's surely incredibly convenient. |

My beef is with the Delta usage - I had a boarding pass for an upcoming flight but it wouldn't "transfer" to passbook - so I called Delta.
Apparently, if ONLY ONE of the airports that you are flying through don't support eBoarding passes (ie passbook) then it won't work for ANY of your flights. So - I guess Delta hasn't upgraded system-wide to support Passbook. Weird, and frustrating!

Why would someone feel like that?

I think you mis-understood what I said. I never said I was broke. By "student" I mean't that I don't travel or go to the movies often because I'm studying most of the time.

It would be so much easier if BK would let you download the vouchers you want to passbook and use them that way, they already allow you to download and print out them, so a digital way shouldn't be too much to ask, and it seems that sort of thing is where passbook would triumph. Again, over the christmas shopping period i've probably turned down a dozen loyalty cards, I just can't carry any more plastic, and told them I'll have one when it becomes phone/passbook friendly. Hope it picks up, its a good idea that hasn't caught fire yet. |

passbook is effing amazing. just wish everyone would get on board. My wallet has two actually monetary linked cards and the rest contain store rewards cards (Rewardzone, wlifebalance, CVS etc). if those companies would all for passbook cards then i wouldnt need to carry all those cards with me. That is the future. if passbook doesnt catch on, it will be a seriously missed opportunity and solution to an actual problem.

I never carry my rewards cards or warehouse memberships in my wallet, if I did I would need at least 30 slots. I just put them all in a small wallet size zippered bag and leave it in the glove compartment. When I get somewhere I need it I just pull it out before getting off the car.
. I was hoping to at least get half of those cards onto passbook, but nope. I don't drink coffee, the airlines I travel w/ don't have their apps updated for passbook and I barely go to walgreens 2-3 a year. I don't care about a home screen, just give actual use out of it apple, the selection is weak so far and we are almost at iOS 7.

I use passbook for Starbucks, target, and movie tickets. It's actually a great feature, you just have to take advantage of it.

But then, I make sure the place is able to handle it - skipped it on the last flight I took because it was too new/didn't know if they had the right scanners for it. Or you could simply have had some help with the laptop - or budgeted for it. It's easier to get a laptop (with or without help) since you need one for class anyway that have a steady travel/movie budget. |

Especially as the pass that you could have on your website or email out to a customer, not only has a link to your app embedded in it, also gives you a channel to send updates to passes once on the device.

Apple make all these apps that no one uses! I mean how many users of the Iphone really know more that 10% of what it can actually do? Apple need to start to educate, that will increase sales which in turn will give you lot more money from your Apple shares. Its ok for geeks to know it all but sorry to say this but you are in the minority.

I also think passbook will need to incorporate a centralised payment system if it does take off. Having to manage a small balance on each coffee card you have could see you having hundreds of your money spread over dozens of cards/accounts.
It should really all come out of one pot, your iTunes balance would seem obvious, but I don't know if Apple or the individual companies would go for that. |

I use it all the time. Many of my plastic cards like library, air miles, store loyalty, and membership cards are transferred to passbook by the Lemon Wallet app. Most of the stores scan those cards barcodes. Saves a lot of wallet space for cards that I use frequently but hate having to always dig out.

Nothing beats a paper printed anything.
I find it less appealing to read a book on a iPad, kindle or especially the Nook.

Different Strokes...
I use Passbook much more than I use some other standard functions, Siri for example. I'd look forward to the day when all my loyalty cards, gift cards, etc can be stored in Passbook.
