Yes mine now sleeps promptly, used to take near 60 seconds.

Yup... seems the most recent update has fixed the issue. Not a single problem since!

The "awake from sleep" problem has occurred twice on my 3,1 MP since the 10.8.1 upgrade - it seems to happen when I try to awaken it shortly after it is put to sleep. Longer time frames have never been an issue. Strange.

I didn't upgrade to Lion and
It just started happening with mine. 2008 Mac pro and I haven't changed anything. the other day my 2nd internal HD disappeared from my desktop but it was showing up in Disk Utility. It didn't show up as bootable, either. Had to run tech tool pro to have it show up. My preference panel wouldn't work either.
I haven't updated anything major. I'm thinking flash was the latest update. I wonder..... |

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8. on a MacBook Pro. It will randomly refuse to wake up from sleep. It can happen either from putting it to sleep from the drop down menu or from closing the case. The fan does not run, the light pulses, but only way to get back in operation is a hard reset. The problem is getting really annoying.

Found a fix for Nehalem 2009 Mac Pro!
Hi all,
I was having similar sleep/wake up issues and spent days trying to find a solution - tried various suggestions from forums but none worked. Finally stumbled upon this thread over at Apple Support Communities: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=90&tstart=0 And this did the trick. Driver updates from Nvidia suggested by "bonfire" in this thread above solved it for me. And finally last night, I was able to put the MP to sleep and woke up this morning and it was still in sleep mode and it woke up promptly as it normally should. Thanks, SK |

Edit: never mind, just read the link above which confirms that it is indeed related to wake-on-LAN. |

Same wake up issue on early 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.5
Hi,
I have noticed this same wake up issue on my early 2011 MacBook Pro running 10.7.5. This has only just started happening in the past week. I noticed this same kind of thing on Apple's site here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=90&tstart=0 but they mainly talk about issues since the 10.8.2 upgrade and with NVidea graphics cards. There seems to be a couple of solutions there, but has anyone had this issue with the AMD Radeon HD 6490M 256 MB graphics card (assuming it's the graphics card making the system not wake up), which is what mine's running? Cheers, Will |

Am I the only one not on Mountain Lion?
I too am experiencing this problem but I am running on leopard on a 2009 macbook pro. Since all of this happened around the time that MT came out for several people simultaneously maybe it was a bad update effecting multiple systems?

ML 10.8.2 6-Core 3.46Ghz 24GB RAM (Crucial) NVIDIA 670GTX 4GB and have the sleep problem. I tried SMC reset several times, but problem persists. As soon I put the Mac Pro to sleep, it won't wake up. Any ideas what I can do to get it working again? |

No Sleep / Wake problem on 2008 MP - 10.6.8 - 2-2.8 Xeon - 8GB Ram.
Maybe once last week it happened - but no proof what mode it was in or mode intended. Hard reset was done. I'm more than reluctant to go ML. With 4 - 1TB drives, I'm considering flipping #1 with #3 that rarely gets used, clean strip #3, load OS on him to see if by chance hidden HD issue/s just go away. Then go with SSD in the end on drive 1. Just browsed into manual - statement concerning internal battery could make start up difficult caught my eye. May not be related - but would like to know if it's condition can be found
