I'm considering buying a MacBook Pro off eBay. But, I wanted some opinions on which to go for.
One of them is a MacBookPro1,1. It has a 2 GHz Core Duo, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, the 128MB X1600 graphics and 802.11n Wi-Fi.
Another one is a MacbookPro2,2. It has a 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, 256MB X1600 graphics and 802.11n Wi-Fi. It ALSO has a brand new Apple OEM battery that was bought May 30 with only 10 cycles on it, AND all the original packaging and accessories.
The last one is a MacBookPro4,1. It has a 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, and a 250GB HDD, and (according to Google) a GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB RAM and 802.11n Wi-Fi.
My gut says to go with the 4,1 because it's the newest. But it also has the GeForce 8600M and I remember all the threads about them breaking, and Apple ended the recall program in December. So, I feel it's a gamble.
I'm not going to do much on it, I have an iMac and a Windows box. I just need a system for travelling and checking email, Internet browsing, Spotify, and MAYBE (if it can handle it) the super-rare-occasional 15 minute game of Team Fortress 2 via Steam for OS X.
Which one should I go for? The faster, newer system and take a gamble on battery health and the GPU dying, or the 2,2 which is a bit older and slower, but has a brand new OEM battery and all original packaging?
