I was only born in '78 so I'm not sure what my parents had for most of the '70s. I do know that in '79 they drove all through Europe for the summer (so I celebrated my first birthday in Italy) in a bright yellow 2CV. Probably a bit like this:

Great car, lots of character, and almost indestructible.
What are the chances!!! This is my own car, parked near my house in Thessaloniki, Greece!
Really? How extraordinary....
Actually, from childhood, I remember most of the GB cars posted on this thread - a true blast from the past. The Wolseley was a very spacious car - I remember the parents of school friends had one......
In the 1970s, my Dad firstly, had an Opel Kadett; (all his 60s cars had been Mini minors of some description, and earlier still, he had a Morris Minor).
This was followed by an (Hillman) Avenger (a fairly spacious British car which was the first four door car we had; I remember my Mum disliked driving it.)
After the Avenger, he bought a Datsun, as Nissan were called at the time, a nifty car. Japanese cars were just beginning to be seen on European roads by the mid 1970s.
The Nissan was followed by a Mazda 323, for a year or two, which was followed, just at the end of the decade by a Renault 18, which rather I liked.
