No clue what I'm doing
I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 3. I want to drop my unlimited data plan so I can set my phone up to use as a hotspot for my iPad. When I'm home I use my wifi thru my cable company. This will mainly be used when I'm traveling. Do I connect the hotspot by Bluetooth or Wifi? And please explain....

You can use either one. Wifi on bluetooth for tethering.
Up to you. |

But is one better than the other or faster? And am I crazy for giving up unlimited data? After reviewing my data usage for the past 6 months, its very low because we have wifi at home and I always connect to it.

I'm keeping my unlimted data until At&t forces me out of it (which is bound to happen eventually). Who knows what other data intensive new features will be available in the future. With everything going digital and "to the cloud", I suspect we will require more and more data in the coming months/years. There are a lot of people on tiered plans that would kill for unlimited data.
