RAM for the new 2012 iMac

So I realize that the new 27inch iMac takes 1600MHz DDR3 memory but is there different varieties available?

Where are you planning to get yours and what type are you getting?

Got mine from Crucial.com on BF sale at $72 for 16GB 1600mhz 1.35V. I prefer Corsair, Crucial, or Samsung memory to ensure reliability and optimum performance.

Just bought it. I almost bought from Crucial earlier today, but they couldn't get their Verified by Visa ***** straight, so they lost my business.

I read a bunch of positive reviews about G.Skill, and this was quite cheap, so thanks!

I think that it's more the concern of overclockers than anyone. 1.5 produces more heat and uses more power apparently, but that's all I could glean from searching the Internet. Overall, the decision seems to be "it doesn't matter unless you overclock."

Voltage variation isn't too important. I don't know which voltage Apple uses, but I would assume it is the 1.35 to save on power and heat.

I'm curious if 1866Ghz RAM will work. I know that on the late 2009's, Apple listed that only 1066Ghz was compatible, but in reality, 1333Ghz worked just fine. If so, that would be some mighty fast RAM to have an iMac.

No varieties, just get what the original specs (RAM) are.

Well I ended up getting some from Crucial.com. They actually already have all the new Macs listed in their product search page which made it really easy to figure out what I needed.

Was debating ordering the IMac with 16 gb then buying the additional 16gb from crucial but I decided to just get the iMac the stock 8gb and put all new stuff in so its all the same. It still ends up being cheaper and I get two extra 4gb sticks from the original.

$153 for 32gb after tax is quite good I reckon.

Apple will probably update this page the day the new iMacs start shipping:

It should then have a link to a page with detailed specs for iMac 2012 memory. Follow the instructions and you should have no problems.

Or, buy memory based on posts at a rumor site on the internet. Posts written by people who have never even seen these new iMacs.

If you really MUST order memory early, please check the vendor's return policy first!
