iTunes can't create aac vers. from 32 kHz Wav file

When I tried to convert a 32kHz audio Wav file into an AAC 256 file, iTunes 10.7 gaves me the error message "The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file".

I'm using the AAC>Custom>Default setting (where sample rate shows "auto");

10.6.2 (or 1?) did not complain. I'm not installing iTunes 11 right away.

Can anybody confirm this problem? I signalled in on apple.developer.bugs a few weeks ago.

Try using Max? It's another converter. Why do you have a 32kHz file? Seems really low quality.

32kHz is below the 44.1kHz "red book" standard. So this will pose as an error to iTunes. I would recommend Max as the member above has.

AAC supports various sample rates and previous version of the iTunes AAC encoder showed this. Red Book is a CompactDisk standard from the 1980s.

I guess the file is 32 kHz because it is a log file.

I have a hunch it might work at 192Kbps.
