Attached it to a steel heating radiator.

They took one out of our knife block in the kitchen, so he was not really prepared well... luckily ;-)

1) Take it to Apple Store and get an estimate for repair.

2) Give estimate to Insurance.

3) If they say to replace it but not repair, good for you.

Good one, I'll give Apple a call today (closest Apple store is in Amsterdam......)

I've contacted an authorized Apple repair company, they can replace the 'rear-housing' and the stand for a total of 454.96 euro's.

Let's see what my insurance company thinks about this.
