I'm in the market to upgrade our Macbook Pro 17" to a 15" Retina model. I'm looking for a NIB Mid-2012 MC975LL/A 15" Retina with the 2.6 i7, 512GB SSD and 8GB of Ram.

My budget is $1750 for the laptop and $250 for the 3 yr Applecare extended warranty. There are several reliable sellers on Ebay that have the Applecare at that price.

Do you think the $1750 budget for the laptop off of Ebay is to low? I'm in no hurry so I can be patient. This same model is available in the Apple refurb Store for $2119.

Thanks for your advice.

I think $1750 is a bit low for that particular model. I would say $1950-$2100 would be more realistic. It would have to be a rare occasion to find a 2.6/512/8 at that price, especially new.

As it stands right now, the cheapest one on eBay (used) is $1896.99 and the cheapest new one is $2159.00.

Also, you're looking for MC976LL/A. MC975LL/A is 2.3/8/256.

Thanks for the correction on the model number and the realistic budget numbers. I think my brain was muddled with model numbers when i was typing that post.

So I ended up finding the newest model rMBP (ME665LL/A) on Ebay for $2350. It was way over my budget and much more computer than I need but it seemed like to good of a deal to pass up.

That's a good price for a new/sealed one. My local Best Buy has an open box one for $2333 and I might upgrade to that.

It actually showed up and its brand new still in the original packaging. I thought for sure I was going to get scammed at that price. The guy had four of them and they all sold in 15 minutes.

On a side note-I can't get over the sharpness of the display! Even the font looks crisper. At first I thought it was just my mind wanting to like it better but putting the two laptops side by side its clear there is a noticeable difference.
