That's not to say I think "this long" is too long but rather that it's not a simple matter of setting a threshold of x number of reports and then taking whatever corrective action once that number of reports has been reached that all have the same correction.

And obviously Apple didn't independently verify every single POI and road, etc. when they licensed the data; I assume that they assumed that it was good. And also obvious is that they were wrong.

I don't know what happens to reports when they receive them and how fixes happen and I haven't at any point pretended to know but it seems clear to me that it isn't a simple process and that the amount of time that's gone by with the amount of errors there are having not been fixed is evidence of that.
Well, even if they didn't want to rely on crowd sourcing long term, they could at least use it short term to get a proper product out there for us all. I suspect though that crowd sourcing is the only way to go for this sort of stuff, be it done directly by Apple or outsourced. Pretty sure that's how Google do it, isn't it?

It would be pretty safe too, wouldn't it? You can identify people from their iTunes account, so you can ignore reports from people who frequently report things that are contrary to the average report for that item (this would be a good place for a manual check first though), and people who've bought iPhones aren't likely to want to spoil the Maps service anyway, are they?

Therefore, I invite you to use the "Report a Problem" button that is conveniently located above the toggle that lets you switch between standard maps, satellite maps, and hybrid maps. You can even report a problem with a POI by tapping on the pin where Apple Maps thinks the place is and tapping "Report a Problem."
...or just use Google Maps.

They should use the same method as Tomtom Map share. You can instantly correct your own map and then share those changes with other users.

I've reported the non-existent hospital in a town near me around 10 times, and they still haven't dne anything. The place closed in the '80s, and is now an empty field. Worries me that someone's gonna end up their in an emergency.

Apple Maps is also showing a ghost hospital just down the road from me. It closed 8 years ago and has since been demolished and replaced with a housing estate.

Because they're Apple, they 'tell us' what we want instead of 'giving us' what we want.

Map updates can come at a much faster rate if Apple lets all iOS users contribute corrections. Sure, there will be some pranksters here and there, but I'll bet more people will fix errors than cause them.

Seems like everybody loves messing with Apple nowadays: There's a huge Android fan base that would just die and go to heaven if they could contribute to Apple Maps!

Happy to say I reported a problem today. Siri directed me to a trailer park instead of the car dealership that I was headed to.

So there's a motel that closed about 2 months ago. I submitted to Apple Maps that it's closed two months ago. It still shows that it's open (oh, and the pin is in the incorrect location).

I submitted that the location is now closed on Google Maps' app on the iPhone. A week later, I get this:
The location now shows that it's closed on Google Maps.

They'd buy an iPhone just to do that? hehe

I'd be impressed if they could make it worst.

What about reporting mistakes in pronunciation during turn-by-turn directions? Is there a place for that?

They have fixed 1 problem I reported. The other 10 or so have yet to be fixed, and they were sent in with the FIRST BETA of iOS 6.

Is there not an option for reporting problems with directions?
