Did this version fix the weird Photostream bug involving wired vs wifi connections that popped up in 5.1?

The progress bar for this one seems to go to about 65% and then just hang there for a long while. I kept checking over what seemed like and hour or two and then stopped "watching the pot" for several hours. When I check again in the evening it was all done. It seems to work well and I like one resurrected feature from
TV1 (TV shows with original posters show individual posters again).

TV.I shoot a lot of home movies. When I tag them, I tag them as TV Shows so that we have a simple organization solution by year. Thus, all our home movies shot this year will be in the Show "Home Movies" Season "2012". Last year are in Season "2011" and so on. I prefer this to having a list of home movies from many years sorted Alphabetically (which is what I would get if I tagged them as movies instead of TV shows). With TV (generation) 1, individual poster art for the home movies would show as the list was browsed. Thus, a birthday would show a picture of the birthday person, Christmas would show the family around the tree, etc. When I switched to TV3, it- until this update- seemed to randomly pick one poster from the season of shows and display that regardless of which home movie was highlighted in the list. Now, it's back to showing individual poster art associated with each file (each show in the list)- just like it was with the first gen TV.That's not a big benefit but I like it much better this way than it choosing 1 bit of poster art and using it for all episodes within a season. When we are browsing the home movie collection, a good poster makes it easier to recognize which home movie we want to view. |

The "Sort Title" box is where you'd put the recreated name.. The normal "Title" box you leave alone ( that's where the movies actual name is ). The 'sort title' is something you'd never see displayed when browsing movies in iTunes or via an iOS device... It's just used for sorting purposes. To test it out scroll to the last movie in your library (while sorted alphabetically) and change its "Sort Title" to 1A Once you save it the movie should now show up at the very top... To put it back simply delete the 1A from that box and save the meta data and it will go back to the bottom of the list. |

I had really hoped that iTunes 11 would revamp the metadata fields. Seems like the fields have been added and bastardized to fit in media types (music, tv, movies, etc) as they have been added and are not really intuitive.

Updated our two Apple TV's today (eventually) both over Ethernet. The first one took two very quick tries, got an error message the first time AFTER the update had downloaded.
The second one took on hour-long try- downloaded very quickly (4 mins) and then took over an hour to 'Prepare Update'. Both now working fine, two Apple TV's and iTunes 11 working fine (touch wood )I'd advise being patient, leave it overnight if necessary. Seems a little flakey but it gets there. Netflix, iTunes Home Share and Airplay working grand.

ATV updates
Updated two ATV3, one wired, and one ATV2, no problems at all. ATV2 took a lot longer, about an hour total. As you can see, love Apple TV. Also updated to iTunes 11 and new remote app. Have to say that everything is much more responsive, although never had previous issues. But the movies and library load a lot faster, I think more because of ITunes 11 being so much less bloated. Be sure to do them all.
Got to say go for it, worth the updates. |

For franchises that are all similarly named, I just use Sort Title (as detailed already by another poster), so all the Batman movies are grouped together, all the Die Hards, etc. But for franchises with different titles (i.e. James Bond, The Man With No Name, Dirty Harry or The Avengers), I set up playlists. You do it just like you would with a music playlist, except you drag and drop the movies you want into it. I've got playlists for all the mentioned franchises, and I also use Smart Playlists for certain directors (Tarantino, Kurosawa, etc.). Works great because I can have the movies listed under their regular title and organized alphabetically in the library, but then I click on the playlist to see the whole series. |
