The new iPad mirroring?

Anyone know if the new ipad will output to a TV at somewhat retina resolution (downscaled to 1080p if course)? or will it go back to 1024x768?

Via the HDMI adapter, it will be 1080P. Using the VGA adapter, it will be kept at 1024x768 for compatibility with older screens and projectors.

is this a for sure thing? if the new ipad doesn't mirror at 1080p without upscaling, then it's a deal breaker for me.

What about AirPlay with ATV3? 1080p or 720p?

The new iPad would down scale its screen to be able to fit it into a 1080p resolution. AirPlay Mirroring via an Apple TV will be 1080p. It may drop to 720p if the local network is unable to handle the data.

AirPlay Mirroring to Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) at 720p
AirPlay video streaming to Apple TV (3rd generation) at up to 1080p and Apple TV (2nd generation) at up to 720p
Video mirroring and video out support: Up to 1080p with Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (adapters sold separately)
Video out support at 576i and 480i with Apple Composite AV Cable (cable sold separately)

If you're using AirPlay for video with the new ATV3, you're going to get 1080p. If you're using Mirroring, it will be 720p regardless of ATV generation. Sorry.
