Kids can't buy guns. Not bb guns, not paintball guns, not airsoft guns, not real guns.

Most kids can't afford to buy games consoles either, or bicycles for that matter, but the manufacturers still target them. I wonder why that is.

A child can walk up to a counter and buy a game (all-ages) and or a bicycle. An adult must buy a firearm.

Minors can't buy alcohol and/or cigarettes (and other tobacco products) either. Yet, it's also illegal for an adult to buy them for a minor. The same concept should apply to firearms.

Well the NRA I am sure is trying to get around that one.

I agree.

Firearm ownership should be strictly adults only.

Just like voting.

Some rights are not for children.

You seem to think that everyone with a gun is the NRA. You are wrong.

It is. Show me a state where a minor can own a gun.

So every minor in possession of a gun is an outlaw?

Good to know.

Let's fill up those juvenile halls.

Apparently, there are a few where minors can.

Running around unsupervised? Yes. Minors can not own a gun. They can use while supervised a weapon. They do not own it. The adult owns it and should be held responsible for anything that happens with it. There are hundreds of thousands of people under the age of 18 that fire weapons every day in this country and never kill anyone....or themselves over their entire lifetime.

But that fact doesn't fit your agenda so it doesn't matter right?

Okay ... so let me get this straight ...

Guns can marketed for children. Parents can buy and give these guns to their kids.

The kids can possess them, shoot them as if they are their own.

But they can't "own" them.

I haven't heard such ridiculous parsing since Clinton asked what the meaning of "is" is.

How many gun owners keep guns lying around with 4 kids in the house? Given we hear of 1-2 a week, it scares me. This is infuriating.

Quote:
ASHEBORO, N.C. — Randolph County deputies said a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and injured himself when he found a handgun at his home Saturday afternoon.

Deputies said the toddler saw his father’s handgun in his parents’ bedroom and put it in his mouth, where it accidentally went off.

Authorities said it happened around 2 p.m. at a home on Spring Valley Road, just outside the Asheboro city limits.

Deputies said the boy was taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem and is listed in serious condition but expected to survive.

Authorities said the bullet missed the vital arteries in the neck and head and also missed the spinal cord. Deputies said it’s a miracle the child is still alive.

The names of the child and his parents are not currently being released.
Officials said the toddler’s family was home at the time, including his mother, father and three older siblings.

Authorities said the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and the district attorney will decide if the parents should be charged for leaving the handgun out.
Deputies said the case is still under investigation.

Let's see ... here's how it stacks up for pre-teens ...

Quote:
2010, United States
Unintentional Firearm Deaths
All Races, Both Sexes, Ages 0 to 12

44

http://www.cdc.gov/injury/wisqars/fa...y_reports.html
52 / 44 = One dead child—under the age of 13—every 1.18 weeks.

Your figures are correct, sir!

But wait ...

Let's include injuries as in your linked story.

So we'll need to add 204 (2010) to 44 for a total of 248 dead or injured children.

52 / 248 = .209

One dead or injured child—under the age of 13—every 1 day, 11 hours and 7 minutes.

Looks like we should be hearing these stories more often than every 1-2 weeks.

I guess most don't rise above the noise.
