What should I buy?

I have two option, forget about portability and the storage, those are not an issue for me.

1 Macbook pro retina 13" standard-1699$
or
2 iMac 21.5" 2.9 ghz i5, 1Tfusion drive, Geforce 650M-1750$

iMac. I have an iBook G4 and the 12" screen gets tiring after a while just like the 13" rMBP screen would. It's always a joy coming back to my 20" iMa screen.

If portability is not an issue, always go with a desktop system. Better ergonomics and performance/cost.

iMac for sure. The 13" rMBP doesn't have a dedicated GPU (graphics) as the iMac does. This will make a huge difference in any video rendering or applications (such as video games or video editing). The screen is obviously way bigger, too (more screen real estate).

Yeah go for the iMac. I'm very curious to get feedback about that fusion drive technology and how users like the thinner profile.
