I bought two more than the supplied one that came with the phone. I needed one extra for the car and one for work. Just found an ebay listing for about 4 bucks each for generic. Got 4 of these thinking that they may not all work as they are not OEM. But, for the price of one Apple branded cable, I got 4 working generic ones that sync and charge! So I now have 3 OEM and 4 generic.

Got the one that came in the box.

Also got an adaptor so I can use the 30pin ones.

Might get another Lightning Cable in the future though.

I have the lightning to 30-pin adaptor, but that's it. I also have a cheap $2 knock off that I purchased on eBay. I haven't even used the lightning cable that came with my phone.

When I got the phone from the preorder, I bought 2 more cables as soon as they were available so I could use it in the car and work in addition to the one I keep downstairs , plus a normal adapter and the cable one to use with my iHome clock dock. Just bought one of the Griffin Coiled cables when they came out a few weeks ago to use on the car as the normal ones are just too long. Pretty crazy buying $100 or so in cables just to use your phone!

I bought one extra on launch day to keep at my job. I have a 4th gen iPad that included one, so that brings it to 3 official Apple cables. I also ordered 2 knockoffs for $8 from Zagerz.com to have as extras. 5 cables in total. Keep one plugged in for charging at home in the bedroom, one at work, and one plugged into my MacBook Pro for syncing. I have an extra knockoff at work and keep the other in my iPad travel bag. I'm looking to buy a 10 ft Griffin cable once they become available too.

purchased 3rd party cable on eBay = DOA. no charging, no synch.

Ended up purchasing the lightning to 30 pin adaptor and using it with my old 30 pin cables as my synch cable. The original lightning cable is with the charger.

gonna stick with the "official" stuff for now.
