Next Issue gives you a 30 day Free trial to download and read any magazine you want like Time, People, Entertainment Weekly, GQ. They have Back Issues too!

The magazines look great on my iPad Mini. Wish they had even more magazines like Rolling Stone or Maclife but they are adding more on a regular basis.

Highly recommended for magazine lovers or for folks who don't want to lug around all their magazines

That has nothing to do with the device or the OS and everything to do with personal preference. What are you looking to do? Are there apps from another device or OS that you're looking for equivalents?

Some of my most used apps are iAnnotate, Backgammon, Dropbox, Spotify, Circus Ponies Notebooks, OmniFocus, Byword and Sente.
