My wife upgraded to the 5 from her 4s for several reasons. She wanted a white phone, more storage, and a larger screen.

For me...

#1 Larger screen.

It's also considerably faster than my iPhone 4 but I didn't really know that until after I had already purchased the phone.

1- Screen Size
2- Screen Quality looks a lot better than the iphone 4 and iphone 4S
3- Lightweight it feels great because it is very thin and lightweight

Also the camera is better, it is faster and when you have LTE it goes lighting fast.

If you start talking about "advantages" and not just "differences" things get a little more complicated especially when it comes to screen size.
