i m currently sharing a low bandwidth connection(internet is slow and not fast) so when the video call starts it just doesnt work...

How can i disable my came on MBP .

is there an app to lock webcam or anything else...

i found that apps but its only for pc http://www.webcamlock.net.

You should see the setting on the screen for Skype (Unless the newest version is different...haven't used Skype for Mac in a while.)

Not sure if this will do what you want.
There is an icon in the Skype tool bar at the bottom of the screen that's supposed to look like an old time movie camera. It's a square with rounded corners and a triangle. Click it. This will add a red slash to the icon, and your camera will be off.

On my version (5.3.0.1074) of Skype, there's an option in Preferences, in the Calls tab:
"Start video automatically at the beginning of a call", leaving that un-ticked should do it.
