I don't disagree... it's minor, cosmetic. For me, I'd be ticked but I personally would probably just use that as an excuse to get a skin or stop using a case and stop caring.

I do understand though for some people it's a big deal. They paid *at least* $650 for the thing... I'd want it to look good for 2 weeks minimum.

I suppose what I'm saying is that I can see it from both perspectives however in your shoe analogy, I would have taken those damn things back. I've been in business long enough to know that the markup that is on these types of things is INSANE and you really have no obligation to just "put up with" a sub-par product. ESPECIALLY when the company who manufactures or sells it spins it as "premium".
