Text app for iOS and Android?

Can someone recommend and easy and basic app that can allow me to text between Android tablets and phones with iOS devices?

I assume you are referring to a chat type of app. GroupMe is what I use and it seems to be pretty popular now. Works on any platform and allows group chats.

I wish it worked on tablets. Everyone I know uses it so it would be useful if I could use it on my Nexus 7 too.

Google voice, although it's kind of slow to update.

Kik works across Andriod, blackberry, and iPhone. Not sure about Windows Phone, but it's been flawless for me between the first 3.
