I need a creative desktop app

I looked into Curio, but it's overkill for what I need, which is an app that offers multiple "idea spaces" where I can place things (text, links, images, pdfs, etc.) and move them around. Not even sure what category of software this would fall.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks.

You could have a look at Evernote - I have no experience of Curio to compare or did you want to be able to draw maps of ideas?
