MBA doesn't recognize flash drives plugged in when it's asleep

So I have a SanDish flash drive that works great with my MBA. The only problem is: If the lid is shut and the MBA is asleep, and I plug the flash drive in while it's asleep, it won't recognize it when I open the lid.

Is there a way to fix this?

Yes, take the 1.5 seconds it takes to unplug and plug back in. ;)

I noticed this as well. I think it was designed this way for security reasons. The laptop won't connect to a thumb drive unless you are logged in.
