Sound: 2nd cable needed?
I hooked up my AppleTV 3rd gen in my office so I can use the mirroring of my mac mini. The video shows up when playing a video through quicktime, but no sound. I only have a HDMI cable hooked up to the TV.
Do I need an audio cable too? I thoguht HDMI does video and audio...? Thanks! |

HDMI is supposed to carry your sound. Check your TV setup, it's possible you have the TV set to use a different input (some let you select). Do the speakers work on other inputs? It's also possible the TV speakers are OFF (mine are, I have an optical out from the TV to my surround system).

Another weird setting could be your Dolby 5.1 setting on your Apple TV. Make sure it is set to OFF. Setting it to Auto isn't as automatic as you would think.
