When phone is locked. Rest your finger on the home button then turn the screen on with the power button.

Instant phone unlock.

Or just do what most people will do, and keep the home button pressed for half a second longer.

You'll find a time when you happen to be holding the phone with both hands and you'll want to unlock it.
