Dust/dirt in lightning port
how do you clean this? I tried canned air but no luck. I looked in there today on accident and it's pretty nasty. No clue how it got that dirty but it's gross.

The use of canned air is NOT a good idea on any electronic gear. Particularly if held close to the target, the aerosol can discharge liquid which obviously can play havoc to the equipment.

That's why you spray it in a different direction first. And then as long as the can is upright, you'll be good (as long as you don't wait too long before spraying it again).
