I won't begin to pretend I know much about anything about the circuits in these phones work, and you may have a point about watching videos, but what about the general UI or games? Wouldn't this require more power to run at a higher resolution?

Also don't Android app developers have to update their graphics in their applications to support 1080p devices much like when developers had to update their apps to be retina compatible?
