I have a home network with a new Airport Extreme. I attached an external hdd with two partitions:

1 Mac OS Extended - for backup with Time Machine
2 MS-DOS FAT - for use on Windows PCs

I would like to access the Fat partition via WAN from a Windows 8 computer. With Google, I could find no good information to let this work.

I checked "Share disks over WAN" in the settings from the Airport Extreme.

Get the Windows ware MacDive and be able to read HFS+ drives easily. I use this and able to see all HFS+ drives connected to my time Capsule like they were just another drive. I can even format in HFS+ with this small program.

Plus get a power USB2 hub and connect to the Extreme. This way you can put more things to the Extreme.

Still no solution? It works fine with a Windows PC on my LAN! With the WAN option in the Extreme turned on, it works fine on a Mac but not on a Windows PC...

Edit: I also tried the port forwarding as in the attachment.
