I wouldn't buy another Mac if it were not powered by Intel.
The reason is that Intel simply has the best CPUs out there for desktops and notebooks.
And for the premium price you pay for a Mac you'd better be getting the best.
Phones and tablets are a different matter.
But I suppose it's smart for Apple to hedge their bets a bit, since they (Apple) have a track record of not getting along with partners and having nasty relationship breakdowns.
