Greenpeace advert pulled from TV before airing

This relatively clever and safe from lawsuit advert from Greenpeace was pulled from air here in Australia on Channel 9 before it even got a chance to run.

It is about raising awareness to Coca-Cola successfully reversing a 10 cent per bottle refund initiative that helps stop bottle tops and rings from strangling and starving birds to death slowly as well as the obvious pollution of plastic bottles ending up at sea, etc... An initiative we have had in my state, South Australia, for over 30 years now.

Greenpeace says about the advert on their YouTube Channel:
Quote:
Coca-Cola is blocking a recycling scheme. Take action, http://bit.ly/stoptrashingaus_yt, ask your MP to support a national 'Cash for Containers' scheme.

In March, Coca-Cola won its court case to stop a popular and proven 10 cent recycling refund scheme in the Northern Territory -- a program that has already doubled recycling rates in the territory, and operated successfully in South Australia for over 30 years saving tens of millions of plastic containers from ending up in our beaches and oceans.

This loose rubbish is estimated to affect up to 65% of Australian seabirds. Some mistake the plastic for food. When they swallow too much, their tiny stomachs become so full they're unable to ingest any food -- literally starving to death on a full stomach.

Chip in today to help get our ad on TV: http://bit.ly/cokead-YT

I guess when you are in the commercial TV game you have to look after your biggest advertisers...
