Is there one? I know Grimrock comes close but not on Mac yet.

Is there any RPG game that is like the old DM/Chaos engines? I have the ports for Java of the original but looking a bit dated.

More into the puzzles than hacking at things and roleplay - DM was the perfect blend imo...anything out there similar?

I'm in the process of making one, but its still far from finished, so little help there...

Grimrock is decent, and easy to port yourself using Wineskin and play without needing Windows.

I find myself playing older games more... you can actually play DOS versions Dungeon Master, or Eye of the Beholder and similar games still using DosBox right on your Mac.

You can play them on an Amiga emulator also :)

Maybe using Boxer for the Mac would be easier than DosBox.

Older games were designed to beat YOU, newer games are designed to be beaten.........

There's a DM clone called Dungeon Master Java which works on Windows, Mac OS etc. I downloaded and played it a year ago or so and it was great, but the site I got it from doesn't seem to exist anymore. Had a quick look around, and it seems to be available here:

Oh, cancel that, you said you'd already found that.

I know it's an old post, but Grimrock has been on Steam for Mac for quite a long time now.

+1 for Legend of Grimrock. Although it is more like the Eye of the Beholder series (VERY much alike, which is good).

There's a sequel to Grimrock coming out as well and I imagine now they've ported the first one, the second one will make it to Mac much more quickly.
