If you want to keep your unlimited plan you will have to stay on an individual plan and add your wife as a second line on a Familytalk plan (she will have to have one of the tiered data plans for individuals).

No way to do this as a surprise mind you since you'd be porting her existing number over from another carrier (unless of course you just want to get her a new number all together).

thanks for all the info! she wants to keep her number and surprise not necessary... will just have decide if I want to keep my "unlimited (could be throttled) plan". will also have to look into if we can FaceTime unlimited via cellular using family talk rather than shared... Ughhh... this shouldn't be SO complicated! ;)
