iPhone 5 a hit in India
iPhone 5 doing surprisingly well in developing countries.
"About 500 people jostled in a queue at south Delhi’s DLF Place mall in a smaller replay of the iPhone craze seen in the US a month ago. Actor Neha Dhupia was also present to add a touch of Bollywood to the event.
“I have been standing in queue since 4pm,” Abhishek, a Delhi University student, said after waiting for three hours to grab a prebooked 64GB version of the model. “I can’t wait to hold the phone in my hands.”"
That Apple has already prebooked around 150,000 units over the past one month across India speaks volumes about the enthusiasm for its latest product.....“We had ordered 20,000 units of iPhone5 and all these will go to customers who have prebooked,” an Apple store manager said.
"Apple’s iPhone 5, launched in India on Friday, has received a great response with some stores closing the first round of bookings within the first hour."
"According to Satish Babu, Founder and Managing Director of UniverCell, about 300 made advance bookings for iPhone 5 by making full payment with the Chennai-based retailer.
“That's the excitement for the new Apple product,” he said, adding that iPhone5 is likely to change the high-end smart phone segment. He also said an Apple official was in his office monitoring everything before the launch."
"Similarly, Aircel has witnessed a mad rush for the iPhone 5. “The demand and even the number of deliveries of the newest iPhone are beyond expectations.
.....It seems people from the country want to bring in this Diwali with iPhone 5,” said an official from Aircel."
